About Me
I have always been a curious soul! I think we all start out that way as kids, but for some of us, our thirst for knowledge is never quite satisfied. The more we learn, the more we want to learn. I love to investigate, ponder & marvel the natural world and man’s ideas. It is the reason why I earned an undergraduate degree in Secondary Science Education. But of course, life, itself, is a curious adventure and I somehow found myself in the middle of the Bering Sea, on an Aleutian island, and the librarian of a K-4 school. Beginning as a simple aide, I learned what I needed to develop a vibrant library program and discovered my passion in the process. I had finally found the means through which I could encourage and cultivate the curious souls who entered my door. Earning my Master’s in Library and Information Science has given me the tools and self-assurance needed to guide students even more effectively. It has also helped me to understand the many roles of the Teacher Librarian and the need to not only come alongside the classroom teacher as an Instructional Partner, but to also become an Educational Leader who helps implement 21st Century Literacy Skills and Personalized Learning strategies across the curriculum.

Outside the library, I have many interests. It goes without saying that I love reading but I never seem to have enough time to read due to my many, distracting hobbies! These include kayaking, music, art, knitting, sewing, pottery… My husband and I have 3 grown children: a police officer, a photographer, and an elementary teacher. I also have two beautiful granddaughters and a little dog named Zoe.
