YA Book Reviews
This document reviews 22 YA novels based on the criteria required by prominent book review editors such as Book List and Kirkus. This includes simple plot summary, target audience, and critical judgement of literary quality, strengths, and shortcomings. By understanding these standards, a librarian is better equipped to make excellent selections for the collection and more accurate recommendations to her patrons.
Reading Promotion

Book Finder Website
This site was created specifically for Seward Middle School library during my practicum and provides students with helpful tools for finding their next great read.
Library Displays
(see below)
Displays are a great way to get books out of the shelves and in front of kids faces. These displays were created at Seward Middle School library and were successful in getting books into the hands of students.

Tsunami Information Guide
This document was created during my practicum when our town experienced a 7.9 earthquake and subsequent tsunami warning! There was no damage or wave, however, I put this resource together before school so my teachers could discuss the emergency with their classroom and have trusted, quality sites to reference.
Instructional Technology

Educational App Reviews
This website was created in cooperation with Barbara Bailey, Rachel Buchanan, and Abby Moran for our LIS 60675 Youth Literature in the Digital World class. This site is designed to provide parents, teachers and librarians the information and tools needed to become media mentors in a changing digital world.

Web Page Design
The following websites (as well as this eportfolio site) showcase my work in web design. They were created for ITEC 67437 and involve several Content Management Systems from Google's Blooger to Weebly, WordPress and more. The content with in each is unvaried but each is presented in a unique & creative way as the CMS allows. I am not only familiar with various CMS, but I understand the basics of HTML and CSS languages as well. This type of skill is key in helping students and staff create and manage content on the Web.
Battle of the Books Padlet
This website was created for the school's Battle of the Books team as a way to keep track of books read and collaborate on book information such as summaries, main themes, characters, and story details. They are able to easily review the information before the battle.

Grant Application / Award
After reorganizing the physical space of the Seward Middle School Library, I worked with the principal and District Grant Coordinator to find and apply for the Seward Community Foundation Grant. I was awarded the $2000 grant in March and will work with school and district personnel throughout the rest of the school year to fulfill the grant requirements.
Quarterly Reports
I created these reports during my Practicum experience and shared them with the Principal and the District Librarian. This not only highlighted my activities, but I also used them to show the value of a certified Teacher Librarian.

SBE Cataloging Procedures
This document was created early in my MLIS program for a Susan B. English School Library where I volunteered. This K-12 school had never had a librarian and was managed by various volunteers over the years. Before I moved, I created this document for the school secretary to provide some basic knowledge and consistency .
Policies & Procedures Wiki
This is a website of a fictitious
elementary library. I created this Online Policies and Procedures Wiki for my School Library Management Class (LIS60607). This wiki served as the basis for the other documents.
Collection Development

Collection Development Project
This was quite possibly my most extensive project at Seward Middle School. Having never employed a librarian or aide, the school library was long overdue for an overhaul. This document outlines the processes of weeding, reorganizing, and the acquisition of physical materials, as well as the creation of a Collection Development Policy.
